Self-regulation

Pursuant to Article 14 of the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting and the Code of Conduct of Broadcasters adopted by the Georgian National Communication Commission (GNCC) in 2009, broadcasters are obliged to establish an efficient complains mechanism for considering customers’ complaints.

If  a broadcaster breaches the Code of Conduct, apply to us through filling out a provided questionnaire and the Media Development Foundation, MDF will present your complaint in a broadcaster's self-regulation body.

„Her Portrayal - Her Rights: Ethical media in the Caucasus"

Media Development Foundation (MDF), in cooperation with Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF) and Societal Research and Consultancy Center Socioscope (Armenia), is implementing a project „Her Portrayal - Her Rights: Ethical media in the Caucasus". The project is funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Civil Society Cooperation Programme.

 

The project implemented by the three partner organizations aims at supporting fight of civil society in Caucasus region for pluralism, which envisages support for 5th (Gender Equality) and 16th (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) provisions of the UN Sustainable Goals. To achieve this, the project strengthens cooperation between the organizations working on gender equality and media, in Caucasus and Germany, so as they together counter gendered disinformation and find the ways to avoid it.

 

In the frames of the given project, MDF will monitor coverage of gender issues, in traditional and social media, to detect anti-gender narratives, and publish a research report; will conduct a training for journalists on gender sensitive reporting and fact-checking; with the use of research findings, will prepare a handbook for journalists on ethical reporting; will prepare and distribute video reports on standards of ethical reporting on gender issues.
