Donor: NATO Public Diplomacy Programmes
Budget: 8000 Euro
Duration:  June 1, 2024 – November 1, 2024
Sub-grantor: Soviet Past Research Laboratory (SovLab)

Media Development Foundation (MDF), in collaboration with the Soviet Past Research Laboratory (SovLab) and with financial support from NATO Public Diplomacy Programmes, is implementing the project "Combating Weaponization of History through Media Literacy.”

Media literacy experts from MDF and history researchers from SOVLAB will develop a board game on Soviet propaganda methods, information influence operations, and disinformation campaigns related to history and NATO. The game will raise understanding of historical facts, provide information on NATO, and enhance media literacy skills.

In the framework of the project, MDF will organize four media literacy seminars in the Kakheti and Samstkhe-Javakheti regions, where trainers will employ the gamification method for addressing the issues of history weaponization. Seminar participants will learn about propaganda tactics and public opinion manipulation methods in a historical context.

At the end of the project, MDF and SovLab will announce an online quiz competition to reveal three winners demonstrating their knowledge regarding the project-related topics. The winners will be awarded at the final event summarizing project activities.
