Media Development Foundation, MDF implements the project "Media Monitoring for Professional Media,” with the support of Open Society - Georgia Foundation, OSGF. Within the frames of the project MDF conducts short-term monitoring (March 15, 2011 - April 15, 2011) focusing on media ethics and other 35 pressing issues related to Georgian media. Several experts, contracted by MDF, conduct the monitoring observing media practice, and publicizing final reports basing on monthly monitoring results. Relevant legal and ethical regulations are also reviewed in final reports. Each expert provides independent study and conclusions which may become the subject of public discussion. Initiation of such discussions is one of the main objectives of our project. The goals of the project also include: encourage and support media studies, researchers, and experts; involve media professionals into discussions on media ethics; stimulate and encourage discussion on media ethics among society and media professionals; and raise professionalism of media through prevention of media ethics’ violation.
